Negotiation and Lobbying Workshop for Just Innovate
Talking to the Programme Team Leader, we realized the members of the organization and the students managing projects in the framework of its Collaborate for Social Impact (C4SI) programme needed both lobbying and negotiation skills. Indeed, before entering into a negotiation with donors and sponsors, they need first to build up awareness and raise interest (i.e. lobbying).
For the first time, we therefore organized a workshop addressing both skills. The following feedback indicates that the workshop was very well received:
"Again many, many thanks for the fantastic workshop that you offered us last week-end! It was really exactly what we had in mind and were hoping to get. I already received some very positive feedback - one participant told me for instance that it was the best workshop she had ever attended. I also think that the structure the workshop − negotiation theory and one role-play exercise in a fictitious case on the first day, video analyses and one concrete exercise related to our own challenges − was very successful. We highly appreciated that you became offhand ad-hoc-facilitators of a brainstorming and planning session focused on our own challenge. The two Board members of Just Innovate who attended the workshop were delighted by this "forward planning and preparation" exercise. The results will directly flow into the discussions that we will have during our team retreat next week. Furthermore, the new co-director of C4SI 2015 is now totally convinced of the usefulness of role-playing and will build this in the preparation of our outreach activities. As you can see, we could all benefit considerably from the week-end, both personally and professionally!"
